Warranty Decision Maker Qualification, 2 days
$400.00

This is a required course to qualify dealer personal to administer Cummins Warranty through the Rapidserve Warranty System. Completion of this course will ensure a good comprehension of Cummins Warranty guidelines and Rapidserve procedures.  Students will be required to complete the Cummins Virtual College Warranty course and manual (4091832 & 4021290) prior to attending class session. Insite 7, BETT, 4 days

This 4 day combination course is required for all technicians who wish to obtain Cummins Engine Qualification. Insite 7 is the latest version of our electronic engine diagnostic software tool. BETT, Basic Electronic Theory & Troubleshooting gives the student a good working understanding of electricity, and troubleshooting electronic engine controls. Students will be required to complete the Cummins Virtual College Warranty courses (4091839 and 4091840) prior to attending class session. Technicians may attend a one day Insite 7, or a three day BETT courses by requesting an individual course at the time of enrollment.
New Product Operation & Maintenance, 4 days

This course focuses on Cummins Engines manufactured as “IS Products”. Included in topic discussions is, engine identification, basic combustion including EGR, exhaust aftertreatment, and familiarization of lube oil, cooling, fuel, compressed air, and the latest emission technologies. “Hands on” will include engine tune-up, and basic troubleshooting. This course is for entry level technicians new to Cummins Engines, or heavy duty diesel engine industry.
B+, C+, L+   Natural Gas Engine Qualification, 4 days

The “Plus” engines are truly the first “fully electronic controlled alternative fueled engine” from Cummins, Westport Inc. Topics of discussion include base engine, fuel, lubricating, cooling, air, electronic controls, ignition, and Woodward Throttle systems. Emphasis is placed on the CNG/LNG fuel systems, and related components. Both a written, and “hands-on” assessment is required for technician certification.
ISL-G CM2180A Cummins Engine Qualification, 4 days

This course is for technicians that require warranty level repair qualification on the new Cummins CM2180A stoichiometric alternate fuel engine. Each student will be required to show competency on the electronic control, electronic ignition, stoichiometric fuel system, cooled EGR, and the three way aftertreatment exhaust system. Technicians will be required to complete Insite 7, BETT, and the Alternate Fuel Cummins Virtual College courses (4091839, 4091840, and 4091845) prior to enrolling in class. Both a written and “hands-on” assessment is required for technician certification.
ISB CM 850/EGR Engine Qualification, 5 days

The ISB CM850 engine is designed to meet the EPA exhaust emissions requirements for October 2002, and replaces the previous ISB engine for the North American Automotive Market. This course will introduce technicians to “Cooled EGR”, and “High Pressure Common Rail” fuel system technology.  At the conclusion of this course the student will have acquired the knowledge to describe differences between the ISB and ISB CM850 air, cooling, fuel, and electronic control systems. Written, and “hands on” assessments are completed using the Cummins Virtual College course (4091821).
ISC/ISL CM850 Engine Qualification, 3days

The purpose of this course is to provide the student with information covering ISC/ISL, the CAPS fuel system, and the new “High Pressure Common Rail” fuel system.  After completion of this course the student will be able to: describe engine components, trace the systems flows, perform unique troubleshooting and maintenance procedures, and utilize system operation concepts. Student will be introduced to updated CAPS fuel system troubleshooting procedures and factory authorized procedures for the replacement of CAPS fuel pump modules. All assessments for this class written, and practical are delivered using the CD-ROM based Cummins Virtual College course (4091830)..
ISB/ISC/ISL CM2150 Engine Qualification, 4 days

The CM2150 2007 mid range engine course is designed to get all technicians, dealer, and end user up to speed on the latest product advancements. Changes for 2007 include, updated emission controls, cooled EGR, Variable Geometry Turbocharging, and updated high pressure common rail fuel system. Exhaust Aftertreatment assembly and it’s roll in the emission control is thoroughly discussed. The completion of the Insite 7, BETT and Mid-Range Cummins Virtual College courses (4091839, 4091840 and 4091852) are required to enroll in class. The technician will be required to successfully complete written, and hands on assessments.
C/L National Overhaul Warranty, (NOW), Qualification, 3 Days

Note: This class is open to Cummins Distributor and dealer technicians only.
Cummins Inc. requires any authorized service location that wishes to perform NOW overhauls to have NOW qualified technicians. Topics of discussion include, engine disassembly, inspection cleaning, proper documentation, engine assembly, and administration of warranty.  Attending technician must be journeyman level and have completed Insite 7, BETT, all mid range CVC’s and have qualified on ISC/ISL CM850, and CM2150 engines. This is a “hands-on” class. Students will perform a NOW overhaul in class. 
ISX CM870/EGR Engine Qualification, 5 days

The ISX was improved and updated with the new Variable Geometry Turbocharging (VGT), cooled exhaust gas recirculation, and a host of additional changes that enabled the ISX to meet 2002 emissions standards. All assessments for this class written, and practical are delivered using the CD-ROM based Cummins Virtual College course (4091820).
ISM CM876/ISX CM871 Engine Qualification, 5 days

Cummins 2007 heavy duty engine qualification course is designed for technician to achieve the level of competency required to perform warranty repairs. Updated electronic controls, “smart devices”, cooled EGR, VGT turbochargers, exhaust system aftertreatment, DOC, DPF, are a small portion of class content. This is a “hands-on” class that will require students to successfully complete written as well “hands-on” assessments. The completion of the heavy duty Cummins Virtual College, Insite 7, and BETT are required to enroll in class.
ISX, National Overhaul Warranty, (NOW), Qualification, 3 Days

RV/RV2 Onan Generators, 4 days
This course covers basic generator set theory, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. This course focuses on the Emerald, Marquis, and Microlite gensets. This course also covers the new RV Gensets MicroQuiet, Quiet Diesel, Emerald Advantage, Marquis Gold, and Marquis Platinum Gensets. This class concludes with written and practical application qualification testing.

Customized Customer Training
Because of the diversity of Cummins Engines in service, and many with the same “end user”, customer, the training center can also customize any course to meet your individual needs. These courses will be designed in a manner that best fits the needs of your technicians assisting them in keeping your Cummins Engines performing trouble free. The content of each course will contain, engine identification, history, thorough investigation of the lube oil, fuel, cooling, compressed air, internal, external, mechanical, and electronic engine systems. Operation & Maintenance of engine systems will be discussed in detail. The choice is yours, tell us what your needs are, and we’ll do our best to satisfy those needs.

Customized training is delivered either at our training center, one of our Southern California branch locations, or at your facility. For on site training we request a minimum of 3 months scheduling, and preparation lead time, and 8-12 technicians. Day, and evening class scheduling is available, which ever best suits your operations work shift schedule.

Pricing for on site training is charged on a “per-day basis” in addition to a materials cost, (training binders, wiring diagrams, shipping of live training engine modules, etc.) To request additional information, pricing, and reserve one of the few available customer on-site training slots please contact the Training Center.
