Repowers

Engine Repower
One of the strategies to meet emission standards is to perform an engine repower. This is the removal of an older non compliant engine and replacing (repowering) it with a new or ReCon Cummins engine that meets the current emission standards. Cummins Cal Pacific has extensive experience completing these types of projects. We are well aware of the cost of compliance as well as the associated cost of non compliance. It is because of this that our repower and retrofit group works diligently with you to ensure that repowering is the best long term compliance strategy decision for your business.
One compliance option is to repower an older vehicle/engine with an engine that meets a cleaner emissions standard. This process can range from fairly straightforward to very complex. Cummins Cal Pacific has extensive experience with engine repowers in the transit, truck, refuse, and construction markets. We even offer marine engines for repowering commercial water craft. Our experienced team will work with you to ensure your new engine repower meets all your requirements and exceeds your expectations.
Cummins Cal Pacific’s Repower and Retrofit Team has developed a robust internal process to deliver the highest quality products and services to our customers. For each project, we evaluate the following:
Compliance Strategy: Our territory managers will work with you to determine what your compliance strategy options are and the financial impact of each. Each of our territory managers has many years of repower and retrofit experience. This, combined with their product knowledge, and familiarity with the CARB regulations and funding programs, makes them an important partner, as you develop your compliance strategy.
Funding Assessment: There are a variety of government funding and grant programs available to assist fleets in reducing their emissions. These funds can only be used for “surplus emission reductions”, or, reductions above and beyond what the current regulations will create. These programs can’t be used to “fund your compliance”. However, they may be used to clean up your fleet ahead of a regulation or to fund projects after you have already achieved compliance. Our territory managers can work with you to identify which programs you qualify for, and which ones provide the most benefit to your fleet. In addition to helping you determine which program(s) you should apply for, we can assist you providing all the Cummins and related certification paperwork, quotes, and supporting product documentation, as well as assistance filling out and submitting the application. We have a great working relationship with the staff at the air quality districts, and can assist you in getting your questions answered.
Equipment Assessment: The territory managers are well versed in the extensive Cummins engine product line including diesel and natural gas engines. They will work with you to assess your current vehicle or equipment’s power needs and determine what Cummins engine meets those needs. The territory manager will also work hand in hand with our application engineers to pre-determine the most cost effective approach for the repower.
Installation: All of our application engineers and technicians are Cummins certified which helps ensure that the installation of your Cummins engine meets all of the Cummins installation requirements for performance and durability. Each engine system, from the intake to the cooling package to exhaust system is designed to meet Cummins strict installation requirements. Our installation team’s experience and capability ensures we deliver an engine repower that meets your requirements and exceeds your expectations.
