Course Description
Warranty Decision Maker Qualification
This is a required course to qualify distributor, and dealer personal to administer Cummins Warranty through the Rapidserve Warranty System. Completion of this course will ensure a good comprehension of Cummins Warranty guidelines and Rapidserve procedures.

Insite 7.6
Insite 7 is the latest version of our electronic engine diagnostic software tool. All attending technicians will leave with a better understanding all software functions of our electronically controlled engines. Reading “fault codes”, adjusting engine “Features & Parameters”, working with “data monitor/logger”. Performing engine system tests including “injector cut out”, “aftertreatment regeneration & system resets.

Class Prerequisites: None, but students are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop computer with the current version of Insite installed.

BETT
BETT, Basic Electronic Theory & Troubleshooting gives the student a good working understanding of electricity, troubleshooting, and digital multimeter training/usage. Engine Sensor function, multiplexing, and SAE protocol for engine control are discussed.

B, C, L Gas Plus Natural Gas Engine Qualification
The “Plus” engines are truly the first “electronic controlled alternative fueled engine” from Cummins, Westport Inc. Topics of discussion include base engine, fuel, lubricating, cooling, air, electronic controls, ignition, and Woodward Throttle systems. Emphasis is placed on the CNG/LNG fuel systems, and related components. Both a written and “hands-on” assessment is required for technician certification.

ISL-G CM2180A Cummins Alternative Engine Familiarization/Qualification
This course is for technicians that require warranty level repair qualification on the new Cummins CM2180A stoichiometric alternative fuel engine. Each student will be required to show competency on the electronic control, electronic ignition, stoichiometric fuel system, cooled EGR, and the three way aftertreatment exhaust system. Both a written and “hands-on” assessment is required for technician certification.

ISX12-G CM2180 Cummins Alternative Fuel Engine Familiarization/Qualification
The ISX12-G alternative fueled engine is new for 2013. This course is for technicians that require warranty level repair qualification. Each student will be required to show competency on the electronic control, electronic ignition, stoichiometric fuel system, cooled EGR, and the three way aftertreatment exhaust system. Both a written and “hands-on” assessment is required for technician certification.

ISB/ISC/ISL CM2150 Engine Qualification
The CM2150 2007 mid range engine course is designed to get all technicians, dealer, and end user up to speed on the latest product advancements. Changes for 2007 include, updated emission controls, cooled EGR, Variable Geometry Turbocharging, VGT, and updated high pressure common rail fuel system. Exhaust Aftertreatment assembly and its function with emission control is thoroughly discussed. The technician will be required to successfully complete written, and hands on assessments.

ISB/ISC/ISL CM2250 Engine Qualification
This course will cover in detail the new 2010 MidRange Product. Topics to be covered will be changes to the ISB, C & L Base Engines., High Pressure Common Rail fuel system, Cooled exhaust Gas Recirculation, and CM2250 Control System diagnostics. Also covered will be the addition of the Selective Catalyst Reduction aftertreatment system, new for the 2010 automotive product. This is a hands on class. The attending students will spend approximately 75% of class time training on turnkey engine modules.

C/L National Overhaul Warranty, NOW, Local Extended Overhaul, LEO, Qualification
Cummins Inc. requires any authorized service location that wishes to perform NOW overhauls to have NOW qualified technicians. Topics of discussion include, engine disassembly, inspection cleaning, proper documentation, engine assembly, and administration of warranty. Attending technician must be journeyman level and have completed Insite 7, BETT, all mid range CVC’s and have qualified on ISC/ISL CM554, CM850, CM2150, diesel engines, and C Gas Plus CM556, ISL-G CM2180A alternate fuel engines. This is a “hands-on” class. Students will perform a NOW overhaul in class.

ISM CM876/ISX CM871 Engine Qualification
Cummins 2007 heavy duty engine qualification course is designed for technician to achieve the level of competency required to perform warranty repairs. Updated electronic controls, “smart devices”, cooled EGR, VGT turbochargers, exhaust system aftertreatment, DOC, DPF, are a small portion of class content. This is a “hands-on” class that will require students to successfully complete written as well “hands-on” assessments.

2010 CM2250 Combination Engine Qualification
This course will qualify technicians on, ISX15, ISB 6.7, ISC 8.3 and ISL 9 CM2250 diesel engines. An intense 5 day course designed to cover, the new 2010 diesel engines, SCR systems, and the XPI high pressure common rail system. Students must be ISX CM2150, ISB, ISC, ISL CM2150 qualified.

Class Prerequisites: Insite 7.6, BETT. Complete all CVC requirements prior to attending class. Distributor, dealer, and service associate technicians must have 2007 full service heavy duty, and mid range qualification prior to registering for class.

ISX11.9/12 CM2250 Engine Overhaul/Qualification
This course is for technicians who are ISX15 CM2250 qualified. This course is also required for all technicians who are seeking ISX12-G CM2180 Alternative Fuel Engine Qualification Technicians will perform a complete disassembly and reassembly of the new ISX11.9 CM2250 heavy duty diesel engine to running condition. Class will be limited to six students only, NO Exceptions. Students will spend approximately 95% of class time working on the engine.

2013 CM2350 Combination Engine Qualification
This 2013 Training Center qualification course will be offered as a 3 day update course for technicians who are currently 2010 CM2250 product qualified. Incorporated in this course will be the ISX15 CM2350, ISX12 CM2350, ISB6.7 CM2350 and the ISL9 CM2350. Attending technicians will also fulfill the compencey requirement for the Expert Diagnostic System (EDS).

Class Prerequisites: Insite 7.6, BETT. The attending technician must have completed all required CVC training, and have completed full service engine qualification for the previously listed engine models.

ISX, National Overhaul Warranty, NOW, Qualification
Cummins Inc. requires any authorized service location that wishes to perform NOW overhauls on ISX CM570, CM870, and CM871 to have NOW qualified technicians. Topics of discussion include, engine disassembly, inspection cleaning, proper documentation, engine assembly, and administration of warranty. Attending technician must be journeyman level and have completed Insite 7, BETT, all heavy duty Cummins Virtual College courses and have qualified on ISX CM570, ISX CM870, and ISX CM871 engines. This is a “hands-on” class. Students will perform a NOW overhaul in class.

QSB6.7 Marine Engine & SmartCraft 2.5 Qualification
This class is for the marine technician who wishes to become qualified on the QSB6.7 CM2250 marine engine released in the first quarter of 2012. Along with the engine qualification, the technician will also be introduced to the SmartCraft 2.5 electronic controls system and the G3 diagnostic tool. This course is a stand-alone course and does not require the technician to be qualified in any previous marine product however B.E.T.T., Insite and a variety of Cummins Virtual College and online training courses are required prerequisites.
